Swings

Swinging for Sensory Integration

The children enjoy a swing session on a Tuesday afternoon and this is not only fun and very popular with the children but also helps them to prepare for their learning activites. The smooth, back-and-forth motion can be soothing and calming to a child helping to regulate emotions. In school we have different styles of swing to match to the children's need. We have a bucket swing to sit the whole body in and swings that have straps like seat belts to allow the children to  feel secure and snugly comforted by the deep stimulus of the swinging motion. This enables our children to find balance and feel comfortable and safe when a swing is utilized  as part of their day.
