Signing

Signing is a key aspect of communication which helps to support both verbal and non-verbal learners. As a school we are focusing on learning 4 key signs at a time which can be used in day to day conversations. Below you will find our signing sheets for the signs we have learnt so far this year and also the link to the sign BSL app. This app is extremely useful for those who are beginning to sign as it shows a clip of how to sign whichever word you would like to learn.

If any parents or careers are interested, Manchester Speech and Language Therapist team run parent signing workshop session. Once they have enough people register an interest they will put on a work shop. If you are interested in attending a workshop session please email myself at m.james@ashgate.manchester.sch.uk with your child’s name and that you interested in the signing workshop.
