Sunbirds in Squirrel Woods

Lesson: Understanding the World

Class: Sunbirds Year: 2024 - 2025

The children walked from the Sunbirds Classroom down to the school's Squirrel Woods. Here when they arrived in the forest, they sat together as a class  in the circle of tree logs.  Together we sang the action song ' If you are happy and you know it, clap your hands' etc. The children joined in with a series of actions. The children were then  shown the happy faces that they were going to search for and  find. A staff member went off to hide these faces. Then the children went to search for the hidden faces around the woods. When they had each found one and brought it back to the circle,  they were then  allowed to explore the woods independently.
